1. Our original self-build lodge ! Much of which still stands today.

Fascinating how open the site was with very few trees next to what was then Kendal Girls High School. Access was then via Castle Garth off the Sedbergh Road, past Parks Garage and alongside the school hockey pitches.

To ease the worry of PERIOD POVERTY for girls and young women during the COVID-19 crisis, SLDC staff have been on the road this week delivering FREE SANITARY ...PRODUCTS to dozens of pick-up points.

With most schools closed due to Coronavirus, we have distributed supplies to every corner of the district for pupils who would usually rely on being able to pick up free pads and tampons from school.

“Before COVID-19, sanitary supplies were freely available for those who needed them via schemes that local secondary schools had signed up for. Now that schools are closed to most students, there is limited access to these supplies.

Posters are at the 30 collection points at shops, churches and schools across South Lakeland, to encourage girls to help themselves to the free products. Supplies are also to be sent out with food share parcels in Ulverston.
